Pedal Power hosting info session for Tour de Cure
March 20, 2014 by Mark
An information session will be held next week at Pedal Powers here in Middletown, concerning the upcoming Tour de Cure.
The Connecticut chapter of Tour de Cure will provide information and answer questions for local cyclists. The event itself will take place in June and is to be held as a fundraiser for the American Diabetes Association.
Tour officials will be on hand at Pedal Power to go over such aspects of the event as forming teams, fundraising and registration. This year’s tour will take off from the Durham Fairgrounds on June 8. To qualify, entrants will need to pay a $25 registration fee and have at least $200 in donations. Rides can be for as long as 100 miles but shorter rides, as little as 7 miles, are also available.
Funds raised go to research and programs that help in the fight against type-1 and type-2 Diabetes. Last year’s event saw more than 430 bicycle riders participating and doing their part to help prevent, improve treatment, and hopefully one day cure diabetes.
The information session takes place on March 27 and is open to anyone who is interested in attending. Regardless of whether they want to ride, interested parties should phone (203) 639-0358 and ask for Alex Koenigsberg.
