Dave & Buster’s could be on its way to the state

Manchester is one step closer to having the first Dave & Buster’s in the state of Connecticut. An application for development was submitted for a 26,400-square-foot outlet to be placed between Fairfield Inn Suites Hotel and the Market Grille.

Founded over 30 years ago in Dallas, Texas, Dave & Buster’s has more than 60 locations. As a full-service restaurant it offers a variety of food and beverages in an environmental of interactive entertainment. Activities available at Dave & Buster’s range from state-of-the-art simulators to more old school choices such as billiards and shuffleboard.

At a meeting of the Planning and Zoning Commission taking place on October 7, a preliminary site development plan was approved, although some concerns were voiced about the color scheme and lighting. Those concerns prompted the committee to delay a decision for the detailed site development plan.

A proposed construction schedule would have the project started this fall with a projected opening for the fourth quarter of 2014, meaning this time next year could see Dave & Buster’s engaging stationery printers for their first Connecticut store. Although excavation and foundation work could begin with just preliminary plan approval Dave & Buster’s is hesitant to begin without the final approval required for the building and utilities permits, according to Michele Wright, who is working with the restaurant on the proposal.

The matter of the detailed site development plan will be taken up again at the upcoming October 21 meeting.
