Long-running fitness fair sees September start

Bigelow Tea Company has announced the proceedings for the 26th Annual Bigelow Tea Community Challenge.
This fitness event will include a road race, fitness walk, and a kids’ run. The certified course for the road race takes the runners on a scenic route through Southport Harbor and historic Southport, which is near Fairfield.
Registration and entry fees are required and the proceeds from this event are donated to 17 local charities. Free goodie bags and T-shirts go to the first 1,000 participants, and complimentary child care will be provided by the Bigelow staff and the local YMCA. Free refreshments, including Bigelow tea, will also be provided. Event prizes include a $400 gift card and the raffle first prize is a pair of round-trip tickets to anywhere in the U.S. Corporate teams can register and get more information by calling Janned Serrano – (203) 330-2510.
Awards and prizes will be presented to winners in different categories of the 5k race, so stationery printers might be needed for certificates and plaques. Prizes include $50 to any male breaking the open record set by Tom Harding’s 14:42 time and a matching amount for any female breaking Allison Lapinski’s record of 16:39.
The event will be held Sunday, September 29, at the Wakeman’s Club, 385 Center Street, Southport, Ct . Registration begins at 8:00, and will begin with the Kids’ Fun Run, which will include a 100-yard scamper at 9:00 am, followed by a half-mile jog at 9:10 am.
