New hotel planned for Hartford area

South Windsor, 12 miles from Hartford, will soon boast a new hotel.

It was revealed late last month that a Cambria Suites hotel is currently being built at Evergreen Walk in South Windsor. The hotel marks the first time in almost two years that there has been new development here.

The Cambria chain features all-suites hotels that cater to business travelers, and has conducted surveys to determine what these travelers appreciate most. Their input leads Cambria to offer free wi-fi, free parking, and large suites rather than rooms for those who need to host meetings.

The South Windsor location will have 110 rooms and is planned as a four-story structure. In addition to accommodations, the hotel will have meetings rooms, a fitness center, and an indoor pool, as well as a bar and restaurant. Construction is being performed by an Ohio firm, the Radius Hospitality Group. No information on the cost of the new hotel is available.

John Finguerra, who is a co-developer of Evergreen Walk, indicated the Cambria is just one of a number of new developments planned for the area. Also upcoming is an additional hotel that will have 140 rooms; 350,000 square feet devoted to retail; 200 new apartments; approximately 250,000 square feet to be devoted to offices, and an additional 30,000 square feet earmarked for fitness and health organizations.

The developers might consider working with brochure printers to create a mailer that includes renderings of the proposed developments. This could be distributed to potential tenants of the new retail and office spaces, as well as potential renters.
