Family-friendly way to enjoy New Year’s Eve in downtown Hartford

December 21, 2012 by

For many, New Year’s Eve is a time for adults to celebrate and to look forward to the new year, but it is important not to forgot the rest of the family. Hartford‘s First Night will consist of two fireworks displays in Bushnell Park – at 6:00 pm and midnight – performance groups, musicians, visual artists, horse-drawn carriage rides, puppets, face painting, carousel rides, arcade games, a dance party, and plenty of other family-friendly activities.

Two stand-out activities are the Big Game, which is a life-sized board game and a mask making workshop at the Wadsworth Museum. The events will take place at various venues in downtown Hartford, some of which may have an extra admission cost.

First Night celebrations, which are suitable for the entire family, usually start earlier, do not allow any alcohol and finish just after midnight. That way, the entire family can celebrate together.

First Night will no doubt draw families from all over the area, including nearby Enfield. Organizers are also likely to have used such printing services as flyer printing to help inform those in the area about this family event. The flyers may have been distributed through mail or as inserts in local newspapers.

First Night in Downtown Hartford will take place on December 31 from 2:00 pm to midnight. Wristbands, which will get people into the various venues, are $10 for adults and $2 for children aged 3 – 15 and must be purchased before December 27. For more information, call 860-727-0050.
