Audience participation is the key to ‘The Meaningful Magic’ of David Reed-Brown who is joined by escape artists Bob Fellows at Lyric Hall in New Haven tonight, May 16.

The magic begins at 7:00 pm at the hall located at 827 Whalley Avenue, just outside of East Haven. Reed-Brown specializes in sleight of hand and mind-reading during his performance, in which he captivates audience members by floating a table around the stage and conjuring up a myriad of other feats.

Fellows has been ‘escaping’ in all 50 states, plus a dozen foreign countries. He supports the military by performing at Air Force bases across the nation, and has appeared on the Tonight Show and David Letterman.

This is a performance suitable for all ages, and tickets range in price from $12 to $20. For more information, call (860) 304-0021.

Also this evening, beginning at 7:30 p.m, is the play ‘Hear What’s in the Heart-A Shoemaker’s Tale’, being performed at the Oddfellows Playhouse in Middletown.

This story takes place after the funeral of the playwright Steven Scionti’s grandfather, Angelo Morello, former owner of Angelo’s Shoe Repair. Other performance dates are May 23 and 30, as well as June 6, 13, and 20. All performance times remain at 7:30 p.m.

Organizers will no doubt consider that poster printing can be used to advertise upcoming performances such as magic shows and plays, while playbills for performances are also available for handing out to audience members via a local printing company.
