Kids to be amazed by sunflower maze

July 24, 2013 by

Now through August 25, locals can experience the fun of getting “lost” in a maze of 350,000 sunflowers.

The maze is located at Lyman Orchards, 32 Reeds Gap Road, Middlefield, only 30 minutes from East Haven. Proceeds from the maze will support the fight against cancer in children with a $1 donation for each ticket purchased going to Connecticut Children’s Medical Center’s pediatric care unit.

So far, the sunflower maze has raised more than $35,000 for the medical center. There is special group pricing for those purchasing more than 12 tickets. Groups should call in advance.

In addition to the maze, tours of the property are available and there is fruit to handpick in the orchards. On August 3, Buddy the T-Rex from ‘Dinosaur Train’ on PBS will be present to visit the children.

Admission to the maze is $10 for those aged 13 and older, $5 for ages 4 to 12, and free for kids aged three and younger. For more information call (860) 349-6058.

Elsewhere, poster printing is probably being to let people know how to become a better runner at the Soundrunner Running Form clinic, where runners can discover what types of problems they might have while running and they types of footwear will give them the best form.

The clinic is free and runners should wear their running shoes and comfortable attire. It will be held at 1088 Main Street, Branford beginning at 8:00 am this Saturday, July 27.
