Afterschool games for kids among January highlights

Kids aged 6 – 11 can enjoy a variety of games after school at the Hagaman Memorial Library in East Haven free of charge later this month, as one of two upcoming events at the location.

The games begin at 3:30 pm on January 24 at the library, 227 Main Street. Games will include board and electronic games. Kids can bring their friends and the library staff will supply refreshments. They are also invited to bring their own favorite games as well.

Kids can reserve a space by calling or emailing the library or signing up in person. The event will end at 5:00 pm. For more information, call (203) 468-3890.

For the older crowd, the library will have a showing of the classic film ‘An Affair to Remember’, starring Cary Grant and Deborah Kerr at 5:00 pm on Thursday, January 31. It will no doubt be worth watching to see if a couple in love reconnect in six months atop the Empire State Building.

Registration is required for this showing and can be made by calling the library at (203) 468-3890. Pizza will be provided.

For those in a more active, energetic frame of mind, the first annual Veterans Inc Indoor Half Marathon and Marathon Relay will begin at 9:00 am on Saturday, January 26, at 1 Civic Center Plaza, Hartford. All of the races will be run indoors and will be timed. With banner printing likely to promote the race, tickets are priced at $70.
