Health and wellness the central theme at Greenwich library

March 14, 2017 by

The Greenwich Library system this month is focusing on topics related to healthcare and overall health and wellness.

Among the special programs for the month will be a talk on the basics of Medicare, presented by Lou Pelletier, a popular speaker and an expert on retirement and estate planning. The seminar will cover available Medicare programs and review its many options. A discussion of Medicare Advantage and Supplement Plans will be included in the first half of the talk. After that, the many laws and programs relevant to each person’s situation will be discussed.

The Medicare talk will take place from 6:30 to 8:30 pm on Thursday, March 30. Also on the same day, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm, Sally Scannell, R.N., will lecture on the topic of preventing falls and improving balance at the Cos Cob Library in Greenwich.

The Byram Shubert Library in Greenwich will be hosting a mini-health fair, hosted by the Greenwich Hospital Staff and Greenwich Emergency Medical Services. There will be a talk about the benefits of touch/feel therapy, yoga, Tai Chi, and acupuncture; nutrition counseling; and free cholesterol and blood pressure screenings. The printing of flyers will enable attendees to take home more information about these health-related topics.

The fair will be held from 9:00 am until noon on Saturday March 18.
