Westport bites back with a cure walk/run

April 2, 2013 by

Offering a great opportunity for raising awareness and spending time with loved ones, the fifth annual Westport Bites Back for a Cure Walk/Run will be hosted by the Tick Borne Disease Alliance this weekend.

With warmer weather approaching, it is important for Connecticut residents to be aware of their surroundings and protect themselves and their families against the potentially harmful effects of these pesky bites.

Those who want to stay active, and help protect the local community by arming them with important knowledge, may register online for $25 per person or $70 per family at the TBD alliance website. For those unable to register online, on-site registration will be held at 9:30 am this Sunday, April 7, for $35 per person and $80 per family, with children under 10 running for free.

Guests can gather with runners at Sherwood Island State Park in Westport at 11:00 am on the day (and for the walking group at 11:15 am), and stick around for a fantastic awards ceremony for runners and fundraisers at 12:30 pm. With Connecticut ranking as the state at the highest risk of Lyme disease, it is important to learn useful safety tips and to be able to pass that knowledge on to visitors, friends, and family.

The Tick-Borne Disease Alliance would probably benefit from spreading the word to areas like Fairfield, easton, and Norwalk to gather more participants. The organization might want to consider using flyer printing services or other printing company services to further promote this event.
