Fairfield kids get a chance to play with their food

January 10, 2014 by

Although exasperated Fairfield parents have long instructed their children to not play with their food, an exception to the rule is on its way to Fairfield in a few days’ time.

This year will mark the 12th season of JIB Productions’ ‘Play with Your Food’, a lunchtime theater program that offers food and short readings from new and well-known plays.

January’s lunch will be a buffet provided by The Pantry of Fairfield, followed by five professional actors who will be reading short plays. The list of plays on the program consists of Frederick Stroppel comedy ‘Package Deal’, Michael McKeever’s ‘Finding Mona Lisa’, and an excerpt from Neil Simon’s ‘Last of the Red Hot Lovers’. A discussion after the performance will close the event. This might be a great opportunity for representatives of printing companies to take their prospective clients out to lunch.

JIB Productions is a not-for-profit organization that produces visual and performing arts, and brings professional programming to the Fairfield county area. It has a repertoire of more than 100 one-act plays that it presents to schools, corporate parties, conferences, fundraisers, community centers, and private events. Tickets for this particular event are $43 and include the lunch. Originally, the ‘Play With Your Food’ venue was limited to lunch-time performances but, due to popular demand, it is branching out into dinner theater in February.

This event will be presented Tuesday, January 14, from 12:00 pm -1:30 pm at the Fairfield Theatre Company.
