Art About Town Street Party to open this month
May 14, 2013 by Mark
Westport will soon be celebrating Art About Town, an event to celebrate unique, original, and undiscovered artists in Connecticut.
While Westport’s shopping district is a usual spot for many fashionistas, the event will probably bring many more visitors than usual to view shop and restaurant windows featuring stunning artwork for several weeks.
An event intended to bring together artists and art appreciators alike, the streets of Westport will become a massive gallery for purchasing, loving, and learning about art. Works will be ranked by local experts.
The Westport Downtown Merchants Association is a non-profit whose mission is to create a great community experience for Westport residents. The organization hosts yearly events like the Blues, Views and BBQ festival, the Westport Fine Arts Festival, and Art by Local. Additionally, the non-profit hosts parades, concerts, and other community activities at local public spaces.
The Association needs the help of community members to continue hosting community events such as these, and using print companies to help advertise events is a great place to start in terms of building community support. The Association might consider using business card to leave a lasting impression with visitors from surrounding towns like Fairfield.
The celebration kicks off with an Opening Night Celebration on Thursday, May 23 at 5:30 pm and will feature street performers, food options, demonstrations, and late closing times for involved businesses. The event will last through June 16, with a rain date of May 30, and admission is free.
