Floral fascination and fine arts to come to the area
April 11, 2013 by James
With 70 floral arrangers invited to participate, this month’s 32nd Annual Fine Arts & Flowers event promises to be both varied and competitive.
It will be hosted by a volunteer group (Women’s Committee of the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art) and will feature the work of garden clubs, floral arrangers, and florists with designs inspired by pieces of artwork in the museum. The Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art contains a permanent collection including Impressionist, Renaissance, Mid-Century Modern, and Contemporary works. Participants are not limited to being inspired by paintings; they can also find inspiration in sculpture and decorative art pieces.
Flore Fine Flowers of Woodbury is just one of the many floral designers invited to attend and show off their skills to the general public, and the owner Lori Friedlander has been inspired by 20th century ‘Prescience’, a work by Roberto Matta.
The showcase hours are Friday, April 19, from 11:00 am – 5:00 pm through Sunday, and special events like a delicious farm-to-table dinner ($95), ‘Garden Talk’ ($75), and ‘Jazz Brunch’ ($38) will occur on site that weekend. Tickets can be purchased at the Wadsworth website.
Printing companies can be incredibly useful to small businesses and local community events like this, as they offer an opportunity to spread the word about amazing upcoming opportunities. The Wadsworth Atheneum may want to reach out to local towns like Enfield, Glastonbury, and Bristol to draw new visitors and dedicated fans to its events.
