Enfield on the run next month
September 5, 2013 by Max
Enfield fitness enthusiasts are likely to want to participate in the upcoming 2013 ING Hartford Marathon hosted by the Hartford Marathon Foundation. Since 1994 this organization has organized events and programs to promote fitness, health, and fun for all experience levels and ages. Over the years, it has donated over $3m to many local charities and generated over $25m for the Hartford community.
Events include the Marathon, the Half Marathon, Team Relay, 5K, and a Kids K. Over 75,000 participants (composed of nearly 16,000 runners and over 60,000 volunteers, community members and spectators) attend this gala annually. Also, more than 35 bands will provide entertainment along both the marathon and half-marathon routes.
This offers great media exposure for companies, and a chance for local print companies to get involved. Businesses can sponsor a team or have employees participate in teams for charity, such as Team Fidelco representing the Fidelco Guide Dog Foundation. They can also advertise onsite through signage, collaterals, couponing, and expo spaces. More than 100 local, corporate, national, and international businesses get involved each year.
The run begins in Busnell Park in Hartford, Saturday, October 12. The Marathon, Half-Marathon, and Team Relays start at 8:00 am. Wheelchairs start at 7:55 am, and the Kids K will kick off at 9:30. Participants must pre-register either online by 11:00 am on October 9 or by paper, copy faxed or postmarked by Saturday, September 21. There will be no registration available on the day of the event, and all events will have an entry fee.
