Chamber celebrates the end of summer

The North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce is holding its end of summer picnic at the Springfield/Enfield Holiday Inn on August 23 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. Tickets are $35 for barbecued chicken or lobster or $50 for both, with casual dress suggested.

There will be lots of food for everyone to try. In addition to chicken and lobsters, there will be items such as corn on the cob, potato salad, and a dessert. There will also be live musical entertainment from Center Stage and dancing.

While this is a social event, there will of course be room to do some networking among chamber members. Those who plan to attend from the Enfield area may have to arrange for business card printing in advance. Make sure they have enough cards to hand out to everyone they meet will prevent them from giving the impression of being unprepared. A stack of at least 50 business cards could easily be placed in a purse or a pocket for easy access. While there will be no hard-sell at this event, it will be a chance for local business professionals to discuss what their company does and how it is beneficial for others to join their referral network.

In summer, due to people being on holiday or just wanting a break from attending networking meetings, the business events calendar sometimes slows down a little. People often use the summer to evaluate how their networking strategy worked in the past year and what they can do to improve its efficiency.
