A good old-fashioned fair swoops into September
August 15, 2012 by James
The 120th Wapping Fair will take place at Evergreen Walk from September 6 – 9. Admission is $6, or $5 with the donation of a non-perishable food item, or $3 for seniors. The fair is a presentation of the South Windsor Jaycees and proceeds go toward various community projects. Over 20,000 people are expected to show up.
The fair has various animal and agricultural displays, plus racing pigs and duck races. In addition, there will be a fire-eater, acrobatics, two stages providing musical entertainment, food concessions, carnival rides, and vendors. Carnival rides cost $1 for each ticket or $22 for 25, with an unlimited wristband also available for September 6 and September 9 for $23. Ronald McDonald and Ed the Magician will also make appearances at the fair. Various contests will also be taking place, such as the State Apple Pie Contest and the State Quilting Contest.
Both non-profit and commercial vendors can rent an indoor booth for $17.50 per foot or $12.50 for indoor. Vendors from all over the area, maybe including some from nearby Enfield, will be provided with a white vinyl banner as part of their rental, with a choice between three sizes. No doubt the banners will be provided to the organizers by local printing companies. Vendors may also want to order brochure and flyer printing services from those companies. Each vendor is given the opportunity to place a business insert in the ‘thank you’ package that is handed to everyone who exits the fair.
