Children’s Holiday Festival Coming to Bristol
December 4, 2013 by James
The Children’s Holiday Festival Committee will host its 23rd Annual Children’s Holiday Parade this weekend. This parade, sponsored by the Central CT Chambers of Commerce and the Bristol Chamber of Commerce, actually works in reverse as the children pass by the entertainment that lines the route. More than 45 parade vendors have already signed up to wow the little ones.
The route starts at the Federal Hill Green on the corner of Center Street and Bellevue Avenue and proceeds down Bellevue, past Session Street and Beleden Gardens, then meanders right onto High Street. The procession will then turn left onto Main Street passing Prospect Street and end at Riverside Avenue.
Local printing companies are no doubt busily printing the Holiday Booklets that will contain the route map and other local events locations. These will be available around town days before the parade. One new addition to the parade experience is the Winter Wonderland pop-up tent providing entertainment and holiday treats for parade attendees—continuing a tradition, parade participants will be able to warm themselves with a cup of hot chocolate provided by a local fireman.
Before and during the parade, local residents can fill the ‘Give a Little Warmth’ project bins placed on Federal Hill. The bins will be available to collect both canned and knitted items such as mittens, scarves, sweaters, and hats. The United Way will distribute them to local charities.
The Holiday Festival will be held Sunday, December 8 at 1:00 pm with a snow date of December 15.
