Madison to hold the world’s largest brat festival
May 27, 2016 by Max
Johnsonville will be holding its annual Brat Fest over the next few days.
More than 3.6 million brat sausages are expected to be consumed to benefit local charities. The event will be free, although guests should bring money to try the brats.
Around 110 musical groups will be performing over the four days. Music genres will run from classic rock, bluegrass, pop rock, country, and hip-hop, to funk, jazz, R&B, folk, and Latin. Some performers will be Travis Tritt, Lida Ford, Maggie Rose, Blanca, and Citizen Way. Fans may want to pick up some promotional products from their favorite groups.
Activities will include Mr. Ed’s Magical Midways Carnival, a Vietnam Memorial, a climbing wall, a brat toss, a bounce zone, and fireworks.
More than 19,000 brats are expected to be sold before the festival gates open as New 15 will be hosting its Take Your Brat to Work Day. Participants may purchase theirs individually or order large quantities ahead of time. Those who ride their bikes through the Brat Thru during those three hours will receive their first brat free of charge.
The festival will run from today until Monday, May 30 at 1919 Alliant Energy Center Way, Madison. Take Your Brat to Work runs from 6:00 am until 9:00 am this morning. Brats will be served from 10:00 am until 9:00 pm every day of the event, except for Monday when they will be served from 10:00 am until 6:00 pm. Entrance to the festival will be just off John Nolen Drive.
