June 13, 2016 by James
The Madison Museum of Contemporary Art (MMoCa) will be hosting its 58th annual Art Fair on the Square early next month.
More than 500 artists will be displaying and selling their photographs, prints, sculpture, paintings, handmade clothing, jewelry, and accessories. The fair usually draws about 200,000 visitors. Admission will be free.
The fair will also invite visitors to its outdoor dining, entertainment, and a wide variety of live music on two stages. The musical groups will be selling their promotional products at a table located near the stage. A section of the square will be called the ‘Emerging Artists Block’ and will be dedicated to artists who are new to the fair. Also include in the area will be over 50 Invitational Award winners and the 13 artists who won last year’s ‘Best in Show’ awards. North Carolina-based collaborative team of contemporary jewelry designers Lou Ann Townsend and Mary Filapek will be selling their creations, having been named this year’s MMoCa’s Featured Artists.
One new addition this year will be the small business exhibitions. Small businesses will be displaying their goods and services and handing out flyers describing their business information, such as location, price list, and hours of operation.
The event will be held Saturday, July 9 through Sunday, July 10 on Capitol Square downtown Madison from 9:00 am to 6:00 on Saturday and 10:00 am until 5:00 pm on Sunday.
