The 4th annual Mad City Pond Championships will be coming this January.
This 3-day event will again be a fundraiser to benefit and support the UW Carbone Cancer Center. Madison hockey buffs need to brush off their skates, find some pucks, polish their sticks and get out their USA Hockey Membership cards.
Teams can be composed of from four to seven members and must register as soon as possible. Spectators attend for free, and some may want to bring banners to support their favorite teams. The Middleton Police and Fire Department will be serving food and providing a warming tent.
New this year, each division winning team will receive team trophies that are replicas of the Stanley Cup. A new beginner division has been added for 2017, and a Labatt Blue Zone – a party area located on the ice will also be a new addition to the festivities. Teams may reserve VIP locker room areas for the weekend.
There will be eighteen non-check divisions of all men, all women and co-ed teams. These divisions are divided according to age and ability.
The Championships will be played January 20th through January 22, 2017 on Esser Pond in Middleton, located about 100ft from Madison City Line on the city’s west-side.The first game will start at 8:00 am on Friday and the last one will be Sunday at noon.
