Swim into summer
June 27, 2012 by James
Janesville, Wisconsin is currently hosting Summer Fun in the Water at four swimming locations across the city. This scheme began on June 9 and runs until August 19, with all four facilities open daily from 12:00 pm to 7:00 pm, to encourage Janesville residents to enjoy a summer swim.
One of the facilities is The Rockport Pool; an Olympic-sized swimming pool featuring a wading pool, a diving well, showers, a bath house, and a concession stand. Admission to this facility is $2.75 for adults, $2.25 for youth and seniors, and children under three are free. Open public swimming at this venue is offered from 12:30 pm to 7:00 pm and there is hourly transportation to Rockport Pool from Monday through Saturday at 12:45 pm via the JTS West State Street Route. The last pickup of the day is at 6:00 pm.
The Palmer Wading Pool, Riverside Wading Pool, and Lions Beach are also being served by hourly transportation at 15 minutes past the hour from the Transport Center. Admission to these facilities is free to the public, although there will be donation boxes at the wading pools to help offset the costs. All children must be accompanied by adults at all times. Lions Beach has five acres of spring-fed lake water with a sandy beach, a large picnic area, and washroom facilities. The beach is open each day from 11:00 am to 6:00 pm.
There are season passes available at $30 for youth and seniors, $40 for adults, or $75 for a family pass. Flyer printing and post card printing is probably being used to promote this family-fun event. For additional information, please contact the Recreation Division of Janesville, at 755-3030.
