Local runners invited to get in step for half marathon
September 13, 2013 by Mark
The River to Ridge Half-Marathon, and its accompanying 5K and 10K Fun Runs, will allow people to get out and challenge themselves while enjoying the fresh air and a scenic course. This is the 3rd annual event of this type in Janesville, and no doubt banner printing companies will have seen a recent surge of business as a result of it.
All finishers of the race will receive medals and the overall male and female victors will receive awards, as will the top three in each age group. There is an assortment of foods available at the finish line including water, bagels, chips, fruit, protein bars, and chocolate milk.
The marathon will be equipped with 11 aid stations at which runners can refresh themselves with water. Three of the stations will have specific sports drinks and, at approximately the halfway point, energy gels will be offered to assist the runners. There is also a portable toilet located about 9 miles into the run.
Registration costs vary, please check the website, although spectators can watch free of charge. The runs will be happening tomorrow, September 14, with the marathon beginning at 8:00 am, the 10K at 8:10 am, and the 5K at 8:20 am at Riverside Park, located at 2600 Parkside Drive in Janesville, Wisconsin. To learn more about this event, please visit the River to Ridge Half Marathon website. A portion of proceeds go to the event’s charity partner, Rock County Cancer Coalition.
