Baraboo residents race to raise money for charity

November 10, 2011 by

The second Hungry 4 Some Supper Myself long distance walk or run, is scheduled to take place Saturday at 10:15 a.m at Pierce Park.

Featuring both 5k and 10k races, participants will have the choice to either walk or run in both. With prizes available for winners in different categories as well as a non-competitive option, there is room for all sorts at this event. After the races have taken place, organizers have planned for fun and games that the whole family can participate in. Ultimately, Hungry 4 Some Supper Myself is an opportunity for Baraboo residents to volunteer and donate in support of scholarship programs and the local food pantry. Last year’s event raised enough money to donate $4,000 to the food pantry and award roughly $45,000 worth of scholarships to deserving students. Organizers are undoubtedly hoping to build on the success of 2010.

After losing her 16 year old son in 2009, Jackie Smith has worked tirelessly to hold Hungry 4 Some Supper Myself in his memory. In part because of her late son’s strong convictions on the issue, the event is also used to raise awareness on organ donation. To participate, those who register before November 9th will pay an early-bird fee of $25. Anyone who signs up after that date will be paying an additional $5. No matter which way it’s looked at, Hungry 4 Some Supper Myself is a worthwhile cause. Use flyer printing and other printing services to spread the news if need be–registration is open right up until November 12th at 8 am.
