The 20th annual Prairie Family Business Conference will take place at the Romkota Best Western Hotel on March 29-30. Tickets are $540 for Prairie Family Business Association members and $750 for non-members; tickets for the buffet only are $42.

Running a family business comes with its own challenges; the regular rules of business do apply but there are other dynamics that often come into play when you are working with a family member. The conference will feature seminars and panel discussions related to operating and owning a family business. Topics covered include:

• Strategy to deal with family conflict – Doug Box
• Developing policies to guide your family business decisions – Sandra McNeely
• Strategic use of your advisors – Doug Box

There will also be a panel discussion presented by professional advisors. The panel will be moderated by Mike Keller and will feature Lisa Maguire, John Wenande and Ryan Huber.

The 20th anniversary celebration luncheon will feature several speakers. It will also be an excellent opportunity for Sioux Falls family business owners to network with one another. Those planning to attend should no doubt be ready with their digital business cards and get the flyer printing order so they will have enough to give out.

The Vicki Clarke Prairie Family Business Awards will also be given out; those awards are Business of the Year and the Heritage Family Business Award. This year’s Heritage Family Business Award, which is given to past winners who have been in business for over 75 years, will be Valley Queen Cheese.
