21 WFMJ, the NBC affiliate out of Youngstown, is asking area residents to sign up and join its team for this year’s Panerathon. This is an annual walk/run benefiting the Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center. This year’s event will take place on Sunday, August 26.

The news team is currently recruiting local viewers to become a member of its team for the 10K/2 mile walk/run in downtown Youngstown. Members of the WFMJ news team will also be participating in the race. 21 WFMJ has adopted the name ‘Team Peacock’ and it hopes many local residents will come out to help the team strut its stuff.

Individuals interested in becoming a member of the 21 WFMJ walk/run team should visit the WFMJ webpage and type ‘Panerathon’ in the search box for further details, then print out and fill in the file on the website and mail it to the given address with a $15 check made payable to the HMHP Foundation.

Annual events such as the Panerathon may use banner printing at the fundraising activity, as well as to raise awareness about the event. Teams for such activities might also use local printing companies to create flyers and posters in an effort to recruit team members.

The Panerathon will take place at the Covelli Center on East Front Street in Youngstown. Beginning at 10:00 am, entertainment and refreshments will be available to everyone in attendance. Last year’s Panerathon, which drew more than 4,000 participants, helped raise approximately $191,000 for Joanie’s Promise, located at the HMHP Foundation. The Joanie Abdu Comprehensive Breast Care Center serves residents in the Mahoning Valley.
