Stow schedules its second Raccoon Run

The Fishcreek PTA of Fishcreek Elementary School in Stow, Ohio, is gearing up for its second annual Raccoon Run, set for next month.

Comprising a one-mile Fun Run and a 5K, the event is designed to promote the wellness of Fishcreek Elementary students as well as the surrounding community, but it is also a fundraiser for school programs like the Reading Club. In addition, it encourages families to remain connected to the school.

Jennifer Taylor, president of the Fishcreek PTA, said last year’s inaugural runwas a risk, but one that had a huge pay-off, both for the school and for Stow itself. She noted that in addition to the two runs, this year offers a pasta dinner described as a “carb loading” meal, as well as a pancake breakfast. The former dish is being held to raise funds for Highland Elementary School in Stow, while the latter will benefit Kimpton Intermediate School.

Last year, the run drew 600 participants, and this year it is anticipated that between 800 and 1,000 people will take part, thanks to the addition of the Fun Run.

Prices for the events are $20 for the 5K and Fun Run until April 13and $25 after that. The one-mile Fun Run only is $10 until April 13 and $15 thereafter.

Event organizers might consider a mailing to spread the word about the event, so they could work with flyer printing experts to create a colorful, informative direct mail piece in time for the April 23 starting pistol.
