Pelotonia fundraiser just a week away

April 14, 2017 by

The 2017 ‘Pancakes for Pelotonia’ fundraising event will soon take place at the Ohio State University at Newark.

The breakfast is open to the public, who will enjoy a breakfast of sausage, pancakes, fruit salad, coffee, and juice in return for a donation. All the money raised will go to fund cancer research at The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer Center—Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Richard Institute (OSUCCC-James).

Pelotonia was founded in 2008 and is dedicated to funding cancer research and eventually ending the disease. The name of the event is taken from the word ‘peloton’, which can refer either to all the bicyclists in a race, or to the V-shaped group of riders who form the main body of racers in an event like the Tour de France. The peloton changes shape as riders move up and back, depending on the course.

The Pelotonia event in newark is three days long, and includes entertainment, cycling, and an opportunity to volunteer to help fight cancer. This year’s Pelotonia is scheduled for August 2017. Over the eight years of its existence, the Pelotonia—which is an international event—has raised more than $130m.

The fund-raising pancake breakfast connected to the event is scheduled for April 22. Events like this can be assisted through work with a banner printing company to mark the course and to add color to the day.
