Medina jazzing it up under the stars
August 9, 2012 by James
Medina’s annual Jazz Under the Stars will take place on August 20. The event is sponsored each summer by Medina Ohio Regional Music Arts and Cultural Outreach and festivities are scheduled to begin at 6:00 pm.
Jazz Tan Laundry will kick off the event in Uptown Park at the gazebo. Jazz Tan Laundry is made up of Medina High School students who have created an independent ensemble for the evening.
The featured act of the event is Akin for Jazz, who will start playing at 7:00 pm. The ensemble includes Kelsey Edington on vocals, guitarist Dean Newton, Donnie Patterson and Mark Gonder on drums, and Tim Akin playing bass. Akin for Jazz has performed at a variety of locations and has played with the Cleveland Orchestra, the Cleveland Jazz Orchestra, and a number of other well-recognized groups.
Community festivals and events often use local print companies to provide banner printing and other printing services for the occasion. Flyer and poster printing are also commonly used to announce such annual festivals and community events.
Those attending the festivities are invited to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and picnics or snacks, though refreshments will be available at the concession stands. A grant obtained through the Medina County Community Fund, as well as funds donated by area businesses, makes it possible for the city to hold the summer concert series each year. More information about the event can be obtained by calling 330-722-2541 or visiting the ORMACO website.
