Cate Blanchett on her way to Lebanon

Movie buffs in Lebanon have a treat in store. A major motion picture will be filmed in and around Cincinnati, with much of it slated to be shot in Lebanon.

The film ‘Carol’ is based on a story set in New York in the 1950s, and stars Oscar winner Cate Blanchett in the title role. It is expected that cast and crew members will begin arriving in Lebanon on March 25.

Locations scheduled to be used for filming include Berry Intermediate School, the Shaker Inn Motel, and a downtown alley. The school has been used in other productions, including ‘Harper Valley PTA’, which starred Barbara Eden. The Shaker Inn, which is located just south of Lebanon’s downtown, will stand in for New York’s Josephine Inn. Blanchett is scheduled to shoot at the location on March 31.

Other names in the cast include Sarah Paulson, who appeared in ‘12 Years a Slave’, which is this year’s winner for Best Picture. Kyle Chandler, who played Coach Eric Taylor in the hit TV series ‘Friday Night Lights’, will also be involved. The production is expected to shoot in the area for a total of seven weeks.

Lebanon officials might consider working with a flyer printing company to make up flyers showing the film locations, streets that will be closed, and alternate routes.
