Cincinnati’s Great American Ball Park adds more food choices

April 9, 2014 by

Cincinnati Reds fans who go to the ballpark hungry do not have to be content with popcorn, peanuts and hot dogs any longer.

The park is set to add Belgian waffles to its already eclectic mix of foods. Taste of Belgium joins the other concessions to serve its namesake waffles, along with a waffles and chicken dish, which is growing in popularity.

Facilities such as UDF Markets, Mr. Red’s Smokehouse, the Riverfront Club, and the Machine Room offer a wide variety of foods, many not usually associated with a ballpark. Mr. Red’s Smokehouse, for instance, provides smoked quail for certain games, while UDF Markets makes fresh, hand-rolled sushi and sells it at several stands throughout the park. Other treats include the Queen City Sausage specialty brat, and Baja Tacos. Food available in the suites includes rum raising crisp and a meal called ‘Cheese and Tomato’.

The company that runs the park’s concessions, Delaware North, is improving the quality of the foodstuffs sold at the park by making as much of it as they can in-house. In addition, the team itself has committed itself to promoting local food and vendors.

With so many new foods, park management might want to work with brochure printers to develop a handout people can pick up when they come to the game, telling them what is available at each concession, and where the stand is located.
