Cincinnati music students celebrate the season

December 3, 2013 by

Students in the music department at Mother of Mercy High School in Cincinnati are helping residents get in the holiday spirit with a Christmas concert.

This show differs from many others of its type, since the school is extending an invitation to former music students to take part in the concert. Any Mercy music alum who has graduated since 1987 is invited to join the performance and join in the singing of ‘Merry Christmas with Love’ at either of the two scheduled performances. Those interested should RSVP to the music director at the school, Kim Zang, whose details can be found on the school’s website.

Groups performing include the freshman/sophomore choir, the junior/senior choir, the hand bell choir, and a vocal ensemble. The theme of this year’s concert is ‘snow’, and it is scheduled for two performances; Friday, December 13 and Saturday, December 14, at 7:30 pm, in the high school theater. Tickets are $7 and go on sale the week of December 9, at the school’s main office. They can also be bought at the door.

Mother of Mercy is located at 3036 Werk Road, and vehicles can be parked on campus. Handicapped parking spaces are located at the Tech Wing Parking Lot and two other locations around the school

Since the theme is wintery, concert organizers could work with banner printers to create pennants with snowflakes on them to reinforce the idea and create a piece that could be reused in future years.
