Cincinnati announces its ‘Best of Taste of Cincinnati’ winners

Even though the ‘Best of Taste of Cincinnati’ event doesn’t take place until the weekend of Memorial Day, winners were announced April 26.

This unorthodox arrangement is due to the fact restaurants wishing to compete have to serve food to the judges before the event.

The festival is a project of the Cincinnati USA Regional Chamber of Commerce, which has tried a variety of ways to facilitate the tastings. Recently, it has had judges go to the restaurants to sample their food, but this year, it organized separate events for the sampling—one for restaurants and one, for the very first time, for food truck operators.

Patrons who are familiar with the festival will find some changes this year. First, vendors from The Findlay Kitchen and Findlay Market will have their own Taste of Findlay Market area where they will serve different types of food throughout the weekend.

Second, the festival has moved west down Fifth Street, and some vendors will be setting up on the temporarily closed on-ramps to Columbia Parkway and I-71. The Braxton Brewing Company will be there, and a specialty cocktail with the name of the Fifth and Vodway will be available.

This year will bring 52 participants to the event, and a quarter of them are new. Events like this can get a leg-up if organizers work with a flyer printing company to create a handout that tells visitors the location of the participants and what they serve.
