Bicycle Celebrations kick off Bike Month
May 3, 2012 by James
May is Bike Month, and Cincinnati kicked off the celebration just a couple of days early with a Poster Party and a Bike Month Kick-Off Expo. May is an ideal time to celebrate bikes as the weather warms up and the sun shines brightly on the bike trail.
Bike Month kicked off in Cincinnati Friday, April 28 at the Coffee Emporium at 110 East Central Parkway with a Poster Party featuring bike-themed posters created by local artists. The kick-off weekend continued downtown on Saturday with a Kick-Off Expo at the public library, which included books related to bikes and bicycling, crafts and exhibits of unique bikes. Interesting and unusual bicycles on exhibit included a bamboo bike, a tall bike, vintage, cargo and delivery bikes.
Community and area events such as the Poster Party and the Bike Month Kick-Off Expo often use the printing services of local print companies to draw attention to the event or provide information to community members and others in attendance. Poster printing, banner printing and other services may be used.
A variety of fun and informational bicycling events are scheduled to take place in Cincinnati during Bike Month. Following are just a couple of the many events going on in the area:
Howl at the Moon Ride—Bicycle through the streets of Cincinnati by the light of the moon, and top off the night with a party on Friday, May 4 at 8 PM. The event takes place at Reser Bicycle Outfitters at 648 Monmouth Street.
Pompeii and Pizza—Meet at 3:00 PM on Saturday May 12 at the Museum Center to take a tour of the Pompeii exhibit. Follow up the afternoon with a bike ride to Venice on the Vine for a pizza party.
