Beavercreek residents gearing up for Shrine Circus
February 4, 2014 by Mark
One for Beavercreek families to escape the winter doldrums this month is to accept the Antioch Shriners invitation to its upcoming 72nd annual Antioch Shrine Circus. This year’s theme will be ‘Soaring to New Heights’.
The circus will open with a spangled spectacular circus, and parade—acts to follow will include the Royal Bengal Tigers, contortionists, elephants, aerialists, camels, bungee jumpers, motorcycle riders, a human cannonball, and plenty of clowns.
The Shrine Circus was formed in 1906 and travels to over 120 US cities each year. Its Canadian counterpart travels through Canada to approximately 40 venues. Past circuses have presented international stars such as Clyde Beatty, Emmett Kelly, and the Flying Wallendas.
Proceeds from the circus will go towards supporting Shrine Center operations. Supporters may wish to contact printing companies for banner artwork, clown-card pictures, coloring pages, or artwork for ads or postcard printing.
The circus will present five shows with ticket prices ranging from $10 to $20 per adult and $10 per child, depending on day and seat location. It will be held Friday, February 7, at 7:00 pm, Saturday, February 8 at 11:00 am and 6:00 pm, and then on Sunday, February 9, at 11:00 am and 5:00 pm. All shows will be held at the University of Dayton Arena, 1801 Edwin C. Moses Blvd, Dayton, OH.
