St. Peters set to celebrate with gusto
September 11, 2012 by Mark
Locals are invited to come on down to Lakeside Park and have some fun at the ’Celebrate St. Peters’ extravaganza, with this being the second year that the city is offering the fun-filled event. The two-day festival runs this Friday and Saturday, September 14 to 15, followed by a 10K race and fun walk on Sunday.
Festivities will begin on Friday evening with carnival rides and games for all ages. Indie-rock group The Smash Band will perform on the main stage starting at 7:00 pm.
Saturday will be a day of non-stop music and performing arts. Ten different acts will perform on three stages over the two-day festival. The headline band will be Pure Prairie League, a country-rock band originating from Waverly, Ohio in 1964. Other activities include a puppet show, carnival rides and games, vendors, and fireworks.
Children will be delighted by the Home Depot Kids Workshop, a new event at the festival. They will also enjoy the Bass Pro Mills kids fishing derby – a free event that will allow kids of all ages to bait a hook and cast a line in to catch the biggest and best fish.
A colorful, informative map showing the location of the festival and a schedule of events is available on the St. Peters website. The map can be downloaded and printed or, if desired, sent to a printing company for multiple copies or large-scale prints.
Free parking and shuttle service are offered. Pets are not permitted but food and non-alcoholic beverages can be brought into the park, although coolers are not allowed.
