Print Regional Design Annual 2012 Calls for Entries

Print magazine is now accepting entries for the Regional Design Annual 2012. Entries must be in by February 1, 2012. This national design competition is available to art directors, designers, illustrators, photographers, typographers and other print industry professionals working within the US. St Peters printers will be able to enter a range of printed material as long as it was published in the US during calendar year 2011.

There are 14 entry categories including catalog printing, flyer printing, poster printing, stationery printing and more. The full category list is Annual Reports, Brochures/Catalogs, Book Covers/Jackets, Environmental Graphics, Illustration/Photography, Invitations/Announcements, Letterhead/Logos, Packaging (consumer goods, CDs, etc.), Posters/Flyers 10 Advertising (print), Editorial (magazine and newspaper covers/spreads), Self-Promotions, Wearables (t-shirts, hats, bags, etc.), Information Graphics and Web Design.

Printing services may enter online or send entries by mail, with a fee of $65 per single entry and $90 per series.

The 2012 competition will represent the 32nd year of what the organizers describe as ‘the most comprehensive survey of graphic design in the United States”. The competition is organized by geographical regions, with each region having a different judge. The six regions are: East, Far West, Midwest, NYC, South and Southwest. According to Michael Freimuth, who judged the 2011 Midwest competition: ‘Regions still matter in the sense that they comprise creative communities. There’s quite a lot more to our business and world than servicing clients—becoming an integrated and active member of your creative community is huge. You can’t ignore your immediate surroundings’.
