Olivette residents have new alternatives for shopping

Residents of Olivette, Missouri, now have additional stores to check out thanks to the Taubman Prestige Outlet Mall, which opened earlier in the month at the eastern end of Chesterfield Valley.

The new mall, which residents have been looking forward to for months, is north of Highway 40 in Chesterfield and can be reached via the Boone’s Crossing exit.

The Taubman opens with 45 stores in a 310,000 sq ft complex and features such stores as Restoration Hardware, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Wacoal. Eventually, there will be 70 tenants at the mall, which is now 80% leased. Thus, the mall opened with a number of empty storefronts, though this didn’t dampen shoppers’ enthusiasm.

A second huge retail mall, St. Louis Premium Outlets, is on the western end of the valley.
The rivalry between the two malls, which has been referred to as the “outlet mall battle,” has existed for months now, but shoppers will be the real winners in this contest.

The malls opened near the anniversary of the 1993 floods that devastated the region and nearly destroyed all commerce in the valley completely.

Although the malls are in competition, they are drawing from the same population and have a lot of the same goals. Each could work with brochure printers to create a mailer that lists their stores, restaurants, and entertainment venues. A professionally printed brochure can explain how to find parking, and perhaps even give coupons to celebrate the recent openings and any upcoming events.
