Opportunities to get involved in the 12th Annual International Festival
October 24, 2012 by James
Maryland Heights‘ Cultural Arts Commission is deep in preparations for the 2013 International Festival, scheduled for February 24, and are looking for people to get involved now.
The 12th annual festival, held at the Maryland Heights Centre on 2344 McKelvey Road, will showcase music, dance, art, cuisine, national dress, and much more from around the world. Organizers are working to make the festival more fun and educational than ever and their aim is to ensure that attendees can return year after year and find many new things to see and enjoy.
The commission is still seeking volunteers, performers, and vendors. Music and dance acts must apply by November 16 and be able to provide a YouTube link to a video of their performance. Applications are available the the city’s website, or may be requested by phone at 314 738 2599. Vendor booths may still also be available for those with crafts to sell or demonstrate, or cultural information for display.
There are many areas available for volunteers – flag-bearers are still needed for the parade of national flags for the festival’s opening ceremony, the lobby decoration crew is eager for additional personnel, and an assistant position is open for the demonstration area. Other tasks may also be assigned to volunteers and those interested should contact the commission to inquire into the range of volunteer positions in support of the event.
Businesses interested in acting as suppliers to the festival, including providers of printing services, equipment rental and publicity/PR, may also request the opportunity to provide a competitive bid for the current or ensuing years’ events.
