Ballwin Days to bring people in far and wide

The Ballwin Days celebration is taking place for three days and will finish off the week in the area.

The annual celebration always has something to appeal to every taste and age, with such events as the Ballwin Days 5K presented by Ballwin Parks and Recreation. There is also a one-mile walk for those who are unable to take part in the main walk, and a tennis tournament for those aged 18 and over.

The Outstanding Senior Contest honors one senior over the age of 75 who has resided in the city for 25 or more years and has a history of community services, with the deserving winner receiving a restaurant gift certificate. At the other end of the age spectrum, the Pretty Baby contest is for children aged three and under. Proceeds from this event go to the Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital.

In addition all of this, there will be nightly fireworks, musical performances, carnival rides, a beer garden, and performances by the Dock Dogs. The Kids Korner, meanwhile, will feature arts and crafts, pet adoptions, a reptile experience, and hands-on science experiments for youngsters.

Ballwin Days usually draws people from all over the area, including nearby Manchester. Organizers no doubt advertise widely, probably using items such as flyers designed and created with the help of local printing companies.

The 36th annual Ballwin Days celebration will take place at Vlasis Park from May 31 to June 2. Those who wish to participate in the tennis tournament can register for $20. Call Daniel Wright at 314-922-6892 for more information.
