St. Paul festival to offer cool weekend jazz
September 13, 2013 by Mark
The 2013 Selby Avenue Jazz Fest is taking place, as it does every year, on the 2nd Saturday in September. This popular festival attracts approximately 15,000 visitors each year.
Jazz performers from all over the world have performed at this local festival since its inception in 2002. This year, some of the acts performing will include Dick and Jane’s Big Brass Band, the Walker West Music Academy’s Legends of Jazz, and Marcus Johnson. In addition, there will be plenty of food to purchase, a variety of family-friendly activities such as rock climbing and crafts, and plenty of vendors.
The festival will also feature a health and wellness area to offer free health screenings to the public, and information booths hosted by local health organizations. The participating organizations will likely be providing visitors with printed information that they can take home with them, meaning that many of those taking part in the festival will probably be working with St. Paul printing companies to provide literature in the form of booklets and brochures.
All vendors must supply their own tents; fees are $250 for food vendors, $150 for commercial businesses, and $75 for non-profit organizations. Fees for arts and crafts vendors are $35 if they can prove that they only sell original, handmade items.
The Selby Avenue Jazz Fest will take place tomorrow, September 14, at the Milton Avenue and Selby Avenue intersection and is free to attend. For more information contact Mychael Wright at 651-645-1340.
