Local farm harvests in October fun
October 13, 2013 by Mark
Kelley Farm and its staff invite local to join them for their annual Harvest Days celebration. This is a family friendly event for people of all ages to enjoy a special group of activities related to the old days and the coming of winter. Poster printing, brochure printing, and flyer printing might have been chosen to spread the word about this educational event to people in this city and the surrounding communities.
Oliver H. Kelley Farm is a recognized National Historic Landmark that opens its doors to guests as they prepare for the onset of winter. During this celebration, guests will assist with finishing up any leftover field work, aid with putting food into winter storage down in the root cellar, learn how to make ancient corn husk dolls, and enjoy playing a selection of 19th Century games and activities.
The property is known as a grange for a number of reasons, which will be learned about on this day. Guests will have the chance to visit the animals housed in the barn, as well as assist in the garden, and enjoy the sounds and smells of what is cooking in the farmhouse.
Tickets for this celebration are $9 per adult, $7 for college students and seniors, $6 for children age six to seventeen, and children under five are free. The celebration will be happening on Thursday, October 17, from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at the Oliver H. Kelley Farm located at 15788 Kelley Farm Road in Elk River, Minnesota, just a short drive from Princeton. To find out more about this event, or to get tickets, please visit the Oliver H Kelley Farm website or contact 763-441-6896.
