Local band to stamp its ground

The St. Cloud Municipal Band, a long standing organization founded in the 1800s, will appear in their home town next week.

The group performs more than 20 concerts at various venues surrounding the St. Cloud region each year, including the Whitney Senior Center, the Historic Paramount Theatre, and Barden Park. No doubt banner printing has been used by the St. Benedict’s Senior Community Center to promote this performance to those appreciative of music.

At this performance, the St. Cloud Municipal Band concert will be featuring their new show ‘Shirt, Shirt, Shirt’, featuring many new and interesting pieces. The band recently acquired a xylophone and some congas, as well as Wenger Musician Chairs courtesy of the Central Minnesota Arts Board and its Small Capital Arts Grant.

Previously conducted by Glen Toumaala, the band is now being led by Adam Tervola-Hultberg. One of the performances that takes place annually is at the St. Cloud State University Campus. This band also appears at a number of special events each year, including the Memorial Day celebration, the 4th of July Fireworks, and at area schools with the mandate to promote music enjoyment for life.

The St. Cloud Municipal Band Concert is free to attend and will be held on Monday, January 27, from 7:15 pm to 9:00 pm at the St. Benedict’s Senior Community Center located at 1810 Minnesota Blvd. in St. Cloud, Minnesota, just down the road from Princeton.
