Farm babies come to Minnesota zoo

April 2, 2014 by

Throughout the month of April, a special event called ‘Farm Babies’ will be taking place at the Well Fargo Family Farm at the Minnesota Zoo in Apple Valley, just outside of Minneapolis.

No doubt the zoo is turning to flyer printing to print more information about this event so those in the community have a reason to go outside and start enjoying the warmer weather.

According to farm zoologist Dawn Walker, there are goat kids, lambs, baby chicks, calves, and piglets at the event. People can get up close and personal and hold these animals for short periods of time. Although the mothers are very protective of their babies, they will let others hold them as long as they are in close proximity and the mother can see them.

In addition to the baby farm animals, there will be many other activities. Peeps Weekend is April 12 and 13 and will consist of crafts, a peeps mascot, and peeps mobile. During the weekend of April 18 and 19, there will be face painting and craft activities for kids as well as animal egg enrichment on April 19 and 20. An Oink Booth will be the main attraction during the weekend of April 26 and 27.

On Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays throughout the month, there will be tram rides from the grain elevator to the farm from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm.
