Harstad receives November Feature Teacher Award

November 24, 2012 by

The Feature Teacher Award for November in the Westonka School District near Ham Lake, Minnesota was recently given to Beth Harstad, who teaches Fourth Grade at the Hilltop Primary School.

Harstad has spent 26 years teaching in the Westonka School District and has taught Grades One, Two, and Four. She also coaches girls’ basketball and has served as a Committee and Curriculum Lead for Hilltop for many years. She also teaches Community Education classes, which include cross-country skiing, gym games, and snow showing.

Mother-of-three Harstad has spent many of her summers teaching summer school and has directed Hilltop’s Musical Wheels program and coached the Odyssey of the Minds program. She is a firm believer in the mantra that the best education is achieved from experience in the real world. She also encourages her students to get out into the fresh air every day and, for her own benefit, to be positive on a daily basis with the students, parents, and staff alongside whom she works. She has received Service Awards for 10, 15, 20, and 25 years of teaching in the school district.
The School District will no doubt be using flyer printing and poster printing to make the announcement to the residents, teachers, students, and parents of the community, so Harstad can receive the recognition she deserves.

As a winner of the Feature Teacher Award, Harstad receives a certificate for brunch at Lord Fletcher’s. She is appreciative that Lord Fletcher’s honors teachers in this manner.
