Minneapolis Aquatennial offers birthday celebration
June 28, 2013 by James
The 2013 Minneapolis Aquatennial is taking place in the city over nine days this July at various venues. This year is also the 74th birthday of the city of Minneapolis.
There will be a wide variety of events taking place in the city during the celebration. The Midtown Global Music Festival will take place on July 13 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm. It will feature international music, artisan vendors, children’s activities, and free health screenings. The Star Tribune Bash is then taking place at Thomas Beach on July 14 and will feature a sandcastle competition and milk carton boat race.
A Torchlight parade and Life Time Torchlight 5K will take place on July 17, and July 20 will see the Midtown Festival at Stewart Park from 12:00 pm – 8:00 pm. In addition to music, there will be dancers, children’s activities, and food vendors.
Other events over the nine days include a tennis tournament and the Salvation Army’s Most Amazing race, suggesting that there will be at least one event to appeal to everyone no matter what their tastes are.
This celebration will no doubt attract people from all over the area, with Burnsville being no exception. It is possible that flyers printed by local print companies will be helping to spread the word to the community about this upcoming event.
The 2013 Minneapolis Aquatennial will take place from July 12-20 and admission is free to all events. For more information on any of the activities taking place, call 612-376-7669.
