The 2012 Small Business Celebration Candidate Showcase will take place at the Muehlbach Hotel in Kansas City on March 22 beginning at 5 pm. Tickets are $5 for Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce members and $20 for non-members.
The showcase is to highlight the products and services of those companies that are in the running for the Outstanding Small Business award. Those companies invited to showcase their wares will be able to provide giveaways, prize drawings, product samples and informative literature through tabletop exhibits. Businesses from all over the area including the nearby suburb of Overland Park are eligible to become Celebration candidates. When they are local printing companies will be able to provide them with brochures, catalogs and business cards to promote their business.
Finalists for this award are given lots of attention from the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce; they are mentioned on all the literature surrounding the event. In addition, their biographies are printed in local newspapers.
The judging criteria for the Outstanding Small Business award are based on business growth and/or sustainability, employee relations and community service. Three judges choose the top 20-25 of eligible businesses, then seven judges narrow it down to the top 10 and then choose the winner from this list. Judges are drawn from former award winners, former top 10 finalists and non-profit companies.
Being chosen to take place in the showcase is an honor and evidence that the finalists are doing something right; it can also allow those who attend to learn from their example.
