Overland Park set to host awareness-raising cocktail night

December 10, 2013 by

The 2nd annual One Eleven Cocktails for a Cause reception is taking place in Overland Park in about a month’s time. It is held to coincide with Human Trafficking Awareness Month and helps to raise funds for the programs of the One by One Project.

Guests will enjoy live music from the Noteworthy jazz band, two complimentary drinks, and appetizers. They will also have the opportunity to purchase donated art works to help raise funds for the cause. In addition, those attending will be given the first look at ‘Barcodes: People are Not for Sale’, which is the organization’s second awareness video.

The One by One Project is dedicated to spreading awareness of trafficking, which mostly affects young girls sold into slavery. The group believes that the more people know about the cause, the less often it will happen, and that it will eventually be wiped out.

An event like this will no doubt be widely advertised in the Overland Park area in order to attract more people and attention. Often, when an organization needs to get the word out, they get help from local print companies providing them with booklets and flyers, which can be distributed in the area at a low cost.

The event is being held at the Rice Gallery of Fine Art on January 11 from 7:00 pm – 10:00 pm. Tickets are $20 in advance or $30 at the door. For more information about the reception and the organization behind it call 816-388-0663.
