The 9th annual “What floats your boat” event will take place at the Clinton Lake Marina on June 16th from 6:00 – 11:00 pm. Tickets are $75 or $550 for a table of eight. All proceeds go to support Van Go.

The event will feature dancing with a DJ, a barbecue, beer, and a live auction, which will consist of travel and entertainment packages and artwork. The works that will be open to bids include mosaics, furniture and even paper cups. Local vendors and artist will be supplying the items for auction. Lawrence printing companies will no doubt be providing the organizers of “What floats your boat” with banner printing and poster printing service to help promote this worthwhile event, as well as tickets for the event itself.

Van Go is an arts-based agency which offers year-round after-school programs, summer programs, and job-training programs. It serves less-fortunate children between the ages of 14 to 21. The JAMS program is for children from ages 14 to 18 and participants are paid to create public works of art. The Arts Train is for young adults from ages 18 to 21 which offers them the opportunity to create commissioned works of art, provides social services to them, and also helps with job placement. Van Go also has several ongoing projects which benefit the entire community. The organization is filling a very great need for those children and young adults who are gifted creatively but don’t have a proper outlet for their talents. Van Go offers them a future.
