Enjoy some great street performances

The Lawrence Busker Festival will take place in Downtown Lawrence from August 24 – 26. This is the fifth year of the festival and admission is free to all.

The festival will feature roving street performers and artists. There will be four stages in all featuring such acts as contortionists, magicians, fire dancers, musicians, jugglers, hula-hoopers, and sword swallowers. There will be something for everyone in the family to enjoy. In addition, children can take part in a workshop in How to be a Busker, with the fee set at $10 for each child. Organizers of the event will no doubt be using the services of Lawrence printing companies to prepare for this popular annual festival. There will be programs to print, banners to be flown, flyers to be distributed, and posters to be hung.

Prior to the festival, the Busker Ball will take place at the Lawrence Arts Center on August 23 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm. Tickets are $8 for adults and $5 for children. Food and drink will be served and those in attendance will get the chance to meet those buskers taking part in the festival.

Street performers are a great part of summer. It can make a person’s day just by seeing a musician on the street corner, watching a juggler do amazing things, and seeing a sword swallower perform stunts beyond their imagination. The children will love to learn how to become a busker themselves and it really is an event that the whole family can enjoy.
