Jazzy start to the month in Davenport
August 1, 2013 by James
The 42nd Annual Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Jazz Festival is a long-weekend musical event to celebrate the memory and life of Leon Bix Beiderbecke, a pioneer jazz musician from Davenport, and it gets underway today.
This festival has an eye-catching line-up of performances and is a listening opportunity for the entire family. Banner printing, poster printing, flyer printing, and other printing services by local printing companies were most likely used to make this festival possible.
This festival is being held in the downtown core of Davenport, with the main performances taking place in the historic Alder Theatre, as well as the Mississippi River Hall. Available for sale at this event will be a selection of foods and treats, refreshments, souvenirs, and a number of band CDs.
The event is brought to the audience through a collaboration between the Bix Beiderbecke Memorial Society and the City of Davenport. The LeClair Park performances, which are free to everyone, will be considered to be portion of the Summer Concert Series. The full schedule of performances is listed online and there will be more than 15 bands performing at the main venues.
Tickets for the main performances vary depending on seating. Having got started today, the event runs until Sunday, August 4, at the Mississippi Hall, the River Center, and the Alder Theatre in Davenport, Iowa. For addresses of these performance venues, the performance schedule, or ticket information, visit the Bix Society website or call the organizers at 563-324-7170.
